How to Win at Roulette – Our Top Tips and Advice in 2021

Categories : Casino

Did you know that roulette is one of the oldest gambling games in the world? This hundreds of years old game based mostly on luck can win you money, but you need to understand how it works and knows some strategies. Although these strategies cannot guarantee you a certain victory, they can still allow you to minimize your losses.

Maximize Profits

Watch the Roulette Wheel

Start by watching roulette for a while before you bet. If you are in a casino, this will allow you to note some possible repetitions. For example, on some casters, the ball sometimes lands more often on an even number than on others. If there is an electronic board, look at it as well.

Watch carefully whoever throws the ball and spins the casino roulette wheel. If the casino employee has been working with roulette for a long time, it is customary that he will most likely roll the ball the same every time or spin the roulette with the same power; this influences the behaviour of the ball.

Train Yourself

Start by practicing at home or a free table before playing for money. This way, you will gain confidence while getting used to the game. You will also see what works best and what not to do. Think about how much you want to bet and take the time to review other players’ strategies.

Play European Roulette

Avoid playing American roulette, as this roulette has one extra square, 00. This extra square decreases your odds of winning. If you have a choice, play European roulette and not American roulette, as you will have more chances of winning.

In European Roulette, the house edge is 2.7%, while in American Roulette, the house edge is 5.30%.

Avoid Online Roulette

If you want to play roulette online, you need to be particularly careful. You certainly don’t want to give your money to a scam website. The site you are playing on must be directly linked to a real casino with an excellent reputation. The site must imperatively publish all the payments which have been made to winning players. There are far too many sites out there that just take your money.

Make sure the site you want to play on has a random number generator. On some sites, the system is designed to always win against you; if you can, ask other players for their opinion.

Minimize Losses

Know How Much to Bet

When playing roulette or any other gambling game, you should never play more than you can lose. You can lose control of your finances very quickly, especially when playing a game that is this fast.

When you have determined the maximum amount you are going to bet, do not exceed that amount and do not give in to the temptation to gamble more. This is certainly easier said than done, but you can, for example, limit your alcohol consumption to better control temptation. Ask a friend to write down the amounts you bet and write the maximum amount you set on a piece of paper, so you don’t exceed it.

Cash in Your Winnings

If, for example, you start the game with 100 euros, if you win 150 euros, cash your winnings immediately (50 euros) and keep this amount by separating it from the amount you bet. Continue to play with 100 euros; if you lose your 100 euros, you will have actually lost 50 euros (since you have kept the 50 euros that you won). By doing it this way, you may even be able to lose nothing at all in the event that you are lucky enough to win as much as the original amount you set for yourself.

Play Outside

This technique is particularly interesting because it gives you a much better probability of not losing your bets by playing on “miss-pass,” “even-odd,” or “red-black.” Although the payouts are much smaller (1: 1), the roulette will be much friendlier to you with this technique.

Your odds of winning are slightly less than 50% (because of the 0 or 00), even though the house edge remains the same. The fewer numbers you play, the less likely you are to win (this is pretty obvious), but the house advantage over the numbers 0 – 00 – 1 – 2 – 3 (the top 5) is the worst of all for you (7.90% chance for the house), so avoid these numbers.

Never bet on the first five numbers: 0 – 00 – 1 – 2 – 3.

A double-throw also works very well. Play, for example, “odd” and “red.” This way, you have covered almost all the numbers, and some are even covered two times.

Use Strategies to Bet

Double the Bet

With this strategy, you always bet on red (or black) or even on “miss” (or “pass”). With this strategy, the payout is two times the bet. When you lose, double the bet on the same colour until you end up winning. This strategy is called: the classic martingale.

Say you bet $ 5 on red and black comes out, so you’ve lost $ 5. In the next round, bet 10 euros on red; if black comes out again, you have now lost 15 euros (10 + 5). Now bet 20 euros on red. If the red comes out (it will come out sooner or later, you just have to continue by doubling the bet until your colour comes out), your winnings will be 40 euros. Since you lost 15 euros previously, you actually win 5 euros (40 euros minus the 20 you bet, minus the 15 you lost).

Start by wagering the minimum amount that is allowed to be wagered on the table. Be careful, however, because some tables have a maximum amount that you can bet; in this case, you could reach the maximum amount before you have won.

To use this strategy, you need to make sure you have enough money to double the bet on each spin.

Try the Big Martingale

With this strategy, you bet when you play with the classic martingale, but you add each time the starting bet (in addition). If, for example, you started with 5 euros, if you lose, you will bet the second time 10 euros + 5 euros (the base stake doubled + the starting stake).

Try the James Bond Strategy

With this strategy, you will bet 200 euros on each spin. You place 140 euros on “pass” (the numbers from 19 to 36), you also bet 50 euros on the sixteen (the numbers 13 to 18), and you place 10 euros on the zero. You increase your chances of winning by diversifying your bets.

If the ball stops between the 19th and the 36th, your gain will be 80 euros; if the ball stops on one of the sixteen numbers (from 13 to 18), your gain will be 100 euros. If it is the 0 that comes out, you will then win 160 euros.

If, on the other hand, the ball lands on a number between 1 and 12, you lose the 200 euros that you have a bet. You will then have to start again with the classic martingale to recover your money (if you have any left).

Work on the Prison Strategy

This strategy is mainly applicable in case you are playing European roulette. With this technique, you reduce the house edge to 1.35%! Here’s how to do it:

First, bet 10 euros on black. If the ball comes to rest at zero, the house keeps the $ 10 you bet, and the dealer raises the ball. If the ball lands on a black square, you get your 10 euro bet back. You don’t win anything, but neither do you lose.

Advice

  • In American Roulette, the house has a 5.6% advantage. If you want to play roulette with a better chance of winning, you should choose European roulette because, with the latter, the house edge is lower.
  • Look for any shaking casters. Place yourself in a place where the light is reflected brilliantly on the game table. If the light reflection is distorted on the table, the roulette wheel is shaking, which will greatly influence the behaviour of the ball.
  • Always be responsible when playing for real money. Never gamble more money than you can spend.
  • Learn to recognize the flaws of roulette tables. Some tables have dominant areas (these are imperfections that cause the ball to freeze in some places more than others). When a table is tilted, the ball will tend to stop more often in the same area. The separation between the holes of the roulette wheel is sometimes different in certain places (lower), and the roulette sometimes slows down more quickly in certain places.
  • Observe the movement of the ball. Whatever ball is used, it can move in a particular way on the wheel when its surface has imperfections. Observe the movement of the ball on the roulette wheel and listen if it makes a clicking noise. If so, the surface area of the roulette wheel is certainly warped, which will allow you to determine which area it is stopping more often more quickly.
  • Observe where the ball lands. If you study the behaviour of the marble, and if you determine which area is where it comes to rest most often, you can take advantage of it. This requires spending a long time observing the behaviour of the ball.
  • Look at the condition of the ball. Some balls can be deformed by wear. Listen to the sound that the marble makes on the table; if you hear the marble clicking in a particular spot, there may be some imperfections in the marble that you can use to your advantage.
